General information.
xIDENTITY is the digital identity of XiTrust & A-Trust. A digital identity is required to electronically sign documents in a legally binding way.
Yes! As soon as you are registered for xIDENTITY, you can log in to myxIDENTITY to upload and electronically sign documents.
Not necessarily, because the Handy-Signatur fulfills the same task as xIDENTITY, it is a digital identity. The difference is that when you register for the Handy-Signatur, your personal data is compared with your data from the ZMR (Central Register of Residents). This is not the case with xIDENTITY, so it is easy to obtain a digital identity with xIDENTITY even for people who do not have a residence in Austria.
If you want to use the Handy-Signatur exclusively for private purposes, xIDENTITY offers the possibility to obtain a digital identity via your company telephone, which you can then use to sign documents professionally.
MOXIS is the digital signature folder of XiTrust and the solution for companies to replace the traditional paper-based signature folder. With XiTrust MOXIS you have an overview of your documents to be signed at any time and can sign them on the go via batch signature. XiTrust MOXIS is easily integrated into your existing IT landscape and workflow systems. Your documents never leave the company.
In order to use XiTrust MOXIS and sign documents electronically, a digital identity, such as xIDENTITY or the Handy-Signatur, is a basic requirement.
A trust center certifies the identity of the communication partner in electronic communication processes. The trust center issues the qualified certificates that form the basis of a qualified electronic signature. The qualified digital signature of the trust center, which is used to sign each issued certificate, ensures that the certificate is forgery-proof. A-Trust and Swisscom are examples of trust centers.
Registration.
The private registration for individuals is currently free of charge. When implementing enterprise solutions for the use of XiTrust MOXIS, the costs for video identification and certificate issuance are charged according to the number of users (prices on request).
To register your digital identity, you need a mobile phone, internet access and an ID. Your digital identity is established via a video identification procedure. This procedure takes about ten minutes and is carried out by XiTrust partner WebID Solutions. The necessary registration form can be found here.
Fill out the online form – the entered data needs to match that of your ID document. After the confirmation, you can start the video session with the call center agent at the click of your mouse. You are now connected. In this video session, your data and the authenticity of your identity card will be checked. A special procedure is followed, where you have 100% confidence that no other person can apply for a digital identity with your data. After successful verification, you will receive an activation code via SMS, which you confirm.
The last step is to decide on your signature password. You will need this password each time you want to sign a document digitally. Please remember your personal password!
Usage
If you want to sign a document electronically, you will be asked to enter your mobile phone number and signature password. You will then receive an SMS message with a six-digit TAN code that is valid for five minutes. After entering the TAN code, the document is legally signed.
In the meantime, it is possible to trigger the signature process with the mobile phone signature app (available free of charge on all common platforms such as AppStore, Google Play etc.) by scanning a QR code, fingerprint or FaceID.
In myxIDENTITY any PDF document can be uploaded and legally signed.
It is not possible to use eGovernment services with xIDENTITY. However, it is planned for the future to be able to use various services outside the government environment with xIDENTITY.
By the eIDAS regulation, which has been in force since July 2016, it was legally established that the use of a certificate issued in the EU is also valid throughout the EU and must be recognized. Since the eIDAS regulation has the strictest requirements worldwide with regard to signature guidelines and laws, electronically signed documents are implicitly accepted outside the EU.
If you electronically sign a document in your myxIDENTITY account, you will immediately see whether the signature or certificate is valid or not.
xIDENTITY serves primarily as a digital identity, which is a prerequisite for signing documents electronically. It is possible to upload and sign documents in myxIDENTITY, but without additional functionality like batch signature etc.
With the xIDENTITY-for-free variant, you can sign five documents per month. If you want to sign more than five documents per month, we offer you the possibility to do so with MOXIS.
